The History of Life Journey Ministries
Life Journey Ministries started because of a woman who thought she was originally headed for church work but fell in love with the semi-conductor industry instead. While working on her Masters of Ministry degree from Northwest Nazarene University, Carolyn Schoenborn was required to declare a formal ministry location. She chose her place of employment with Micron Technology, Inc. headquartered in Boise, Idaho. It was there in the semi-conductor industry that Carolyn learned the true meaning of what it means to live out her function as the Priesthood of Believers (I Peter 2:9) in the public market. She learned how to intentionally be God’s presence fulfilling her God-given purpose in life! Those experiences would eventually develop into Life Journey Ministries.
In 2005, Carolyn was asked by the Leadership Advancement Process (LAP) of the Northwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod to develop an on-line process to help people more clearly identify their specific God-given purpose and how to do ministry outside congregational walls. She received two major grants; one from The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and one from the Missions department of the LCMS. Calling on her experiences as an entry level worker, trainer, performance specialist, and eventually organizational management consultant, she developed a process for showing people how to combine faith and life in a manner that makes God more visible wherever God places them and with whatever resources are available.
In 2007 Life Journey became too large for LAP’s resources and in December of 2007 Life Journey Ministries received its state recognition as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Their Federal application for tax exempt status is still being processed.

| The Values Guiding our Journey: |
We will be saying "no" to the following Ministry Journey Killers: |
| 1. Creation – Seeing all of life in relationship to God |
- The separation of physical and spiritual; the belief that physical is bad and spiritual is good.
- Orders of Creation that trap people into roles and hierarchies.
- Academic compartmentalization that separates spiritual development from the real world of behavior and emotion
|
2. Healing and Redemption – personal and of the world (2 Cor. 5:16-21). |
- Self-help, or principles that guarantee success
- Passing on a culture that emphasizes church and Christian culture as the Christian life
- Legalism, power, confrontation, and “winning”
|
| 3. Freedom and Newness that is full of possibilities (Romans 6) |
- Fundamentalism and exclusive expressions of Christianity and ways of serving God.
- Enslavement to our sinful nature theology
- Libertarianism
- You can do/be anything you want
|
| 4. God being present (involved) and relationally knowable or visible. |
- Non-partnership or non-participation in God’s activity where God does everything and I must not do anything – waiting for God to “fix it.”
